Minnesota Life will offer starting February 20th the following new index options to their Eclipse IUL products:
1. S&P 500® with 3-year point-to-point segment length and 140 percent participation
2. Blended index:
– S&P 500® – 35%
– Russell 2000® – 10%
– EURO STOXX 50® – 20%
– Barclays U.S. Aggregate Bond – 35%
These index selections will make Minnesota Life more competitive. The more index options a carrier offers the better. Some carriers only offer the S & P 500 , which is way too limiting considering returns might be better elsewhere over the years. Policy holders who wish to be more active in picking indexes for higher returns should go with carriers with multiple options.
Looks like Minnesota Life modeled their blended index after Allianz. It’s the exact same structure except using the Dow Jones index:
Dow Jones Industrial Average 35%: Barclays Capital U.S. Aggregate Bond Index 35%: EURO STOXX 50® 20%: Russell 2000® 10%
